Khulna Division is one of the eight divisions of Bangladesh and it is located on the southwest of the country. As per the census of 2011, the area is 22,285 sq km and the population is 15,563,000. Khulna division headquarters Khulna city. The third largest city in Bangladesh after Dhaka and Chittagong. Khulna is located in the southwestern part of Bangladesh on the banks of the Rupsa river and on the banks of the Bhairab river. Khulna is one of the oldest river ports in Bangladesh. As Khulna is one of the most industrialized and commercial areas of Bangladesh, Khulna city is called as an industrial city. 48 kms from Khulna city The port of Mongla is located in the second sea port of Bangladesh. The world's famous coastal forest is located in the southern part of the Sundarbans Khulna Division. Khulna division of Khulna division, Bagerhat and Satkhira district has expanded the Sundarbans. Khulna is called the entrance of the Sundarbans. [1] [2] Distance between Dhaka and Khulna city is 333 km. The land route, airspace, waterways can be used along with other parts of the capital including the capital. From 1912 the steamboat traveled through the river in this region.

Founded
After partition in 1947, Dhaka, Chittagong and Rajshahi divisions were formed in the then East Pakistan. The current Khulna division was under Rajshahi division and Barisal was under the Department of Dhaka. Later in 1960, the journey of Kushtia, Jessore and Khulna of Rajshahi division and Khulna division of Dhaka division started with Bakharganj.
Geographical location
On the west side of Khulna Division, the border between West Bengal and Rajshahi division on the north, Dhaka division and Barisal divisions east, and the famous Mangrove Forest on the south, along with the Sundarbans, have a coastline on the Bay of Bengal. It is a part of the Ganges River or part of Greater Bengal Delta. Other rivers include the Madhumati river, the Bhairabandi and the Kopotak river. There are also some islands of the Bay of Bengal region.
